SHOPPING IN THE HEART OF MUNICH

The CELLS Group created fresh value added in 2007 by taking over the shopping centre in the heart of Munich and completely revitalising it. The building’s transformation into “Einstein” entailed the demolition of three quarters of the existing building and the relocation of an underground station. The result is an ei cient allocation of space, a changed layout and improved floor heights. Preserving the existing space was the greatest challenge which involved keeping the resident tenants while construction work was being carried out without them having to close their businesses. Moreover, two key anchor tenants were won. These tenants then actively engaged in shaping the presence of Einstein with more than 10,000 m2 of retail space. The resulting momentum has led to the i rm integration of the property into Munich’s cityscape.
